Dr Ashwin Seevasgath has been practising as a private Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2013. He completed his MBBCh in 2003 at the University of Witwatersrand and his community service year at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in 2005. With a keen interest in Orthopaedics, Dr Seevasgath was promoted to Medical Officer in the Orthopaedic Department in 2006.
From 2007 to 2009, Dr Seevasgath completed several trauma rotations at RK Khan Hospital, Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital, Addington Hospital and King Edward Hospital. He later moved on to speciality rotations in Spine, Arthroplasty and Paediatrics from July 2009 to December 2010.
In 2012 and 2013, respectively, Dr Seevasgath obtained his Higher Diploma in General Orthopaedics (H Dip Orth(SA)) and Fellowship of the College of Surgeons in General Orthopaedics (FC Orth(SA)) from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. Dr Seevasgath became the Head of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in 2012 and participated in the Smith and Nephew Fellowship in Trauma and Spine in 2013.
In 2014, Dr Seevasgath completed a series of medicolegal qualifications that allow him to complete the RAF 1, RAF 4 and medicolegal reports requested by the Road Accident Fund.
He now operates as an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon from Melomed Mitchells Plain and Melomed Tokai Private Hospitals in Cape Town.
